MA,LPC, ATR, Counselor
My name is Tonya Koenigstein and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Art Therapist. I have been practicing counseling since 2016 in both inpatient and outpatient settings. I am passionate about helping my clients navigate life’s challenges through both traditional talk therapy as well as art therapy.
I graduated from Wayne State University in Detroit, where I received a Master’s of Arts degree
in Community Counseling and a certificate in Art Therapy. I have since worked in both inpatient
and outpatient settings which have included inpatient psychiatric care, residential substance use
treatment, pediatric oncology, and private practice. I have served children, adolescents, adults
and families in various stages of need. My areas of interest and experience include depression,
anxiety, parenting, life transitions, self-esteem, grief, oncology, and substance use.
I work alongside my clients to create a positive and collaborative therapeutic environment.
Through the use of traditional talk therapy and the option of art therapy, I provide a client-
centered approach based on individualized needs.
